Mechanical Engineer
Overview:
The Mechanical Engineer II will be responsible for overseeing the fabrication efforts for mechanical systems and performing testing and troubleshooting of the systems. The goal of this role is to apply engineering principles and methods to generate mechanical/structural designs while selecting components to complete a system design.

Responsibilities
Design & Development:
· Develop, design, and implement mechanical solutions including but not limited to enclosures and mechanisms while managing constraints in space, time, cost, manufacturing, structural integrity, and thermal loads.
· Develop project documentation including specifications, 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, schedules and presentations to capture and communicate the mechanical design to achieve the defined project goals.
· Work directly with other design engineers and mechanical engineers to achieve a common design that meets the assigned schedules.
· Build models and prototypes of the product in order to being testing the design.

Design Management:
· Inspect parts and designs by vendors to verify compliance to specifications and drawings.
· Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
· Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
· Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
· Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
· Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.

Additional Responsibilities:
· Work independently with little direct supervision to support tight milestone schedules.
· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required.
· Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.

Experience:
· Four (4) to six (6) years of experience or training in a related field required.
· Experience in the Space Hardware industry preferred.
· Experience using CAD Software is preferred.
· Highly desired knowledge in materials.
